Correction to the petition of Samuel Norment (cww.00083)

Civil War Washington user Diane Bender identified a transcription error in Samuel Norment’s petition. Our original transcription of Norment’s petition mistakenly listed “Wilson Ward” as Norment’s father-in-law. A closer reading of the image suggests that Norment’s father-in-law was actually “Ulysses Ward,” whose son, Ulysses B. Ward, submitted a petition for the compensation of four slaves once owned by Ulysses Ward.

Thanks to Diane Bender for pointing out this mistake.
