Civil War Washington user Lenise Smith-Walters identified an error in our transcription of the Petition of Susan B. Sheriff, 19 May 1862 (cww.00275). In our initial version of the petition, we had omitted a description of Charlotte Jackson, found on the first page of the document. The missing text, “Woman Charlotte Jackson age 22 years about 5 Ft. 2 In. Color light brown. good house servant & cook and very healthy,” has been added to the petition.
